Damavand – Alam Kuh – Sabalan trekking tour : If you have enough time for an exciting trip to the mountains of Iran, we suggest you climb the three highest peaks of Iran in one trip. this tour is a unique mountaineering program where you can climb three high and beautiful peaks of Iran in one program.

Three highest peaks of Iran:

Firstly , Mount Damavand (5671 m) , the highest peak in Iran , Highest volcano in Asia.

Secondly , Mount Alamkooh(4850m) , the second highest peak in Iran , it is also named as Alp of Iran.

Thirdly , Mount Sabalan (4811m) , The third highest peak in Iran , a volcano with a beautiful lake on the summit.

 

Damavand - Alam kuh - Sabalan trekking tour Summarized Program

Day1: Arrival Iran via ,Tabriz International airport , sightseeing Tabriz

Day2: Driving from Tabriz to Shabil(2800m) on the foot of mount Sabalan.

Day3: Climb to Bargah Hoseeiniy hut (3600m)

Day4: Acclimatization

Day5: Climbing mount Sabalan (4811m , the third highest summit in Iran)

Day6: Driving to Masouleh village and Caspian coast

Day7: Driving in Caspian coast toward Roudbarak village at the foot of mount Alamkuh(4850m , the second highest peak of Iran)

Day8: Trekking to Hesarchal (3750m)

Day9: Acclimatization on some above 4000 meters peaks.

Day10: Ascending mount Alamkuh(4850m , second highest peaks of Iran).

Day11: Driving along Caspian coast toward Reyneh village (2300m) at the foot of Mt. Damavand.

Day12: Ascent to Damavand hut , Bargah3(4260m) .

Day13: Ascent to Mt. Damavand (5671m) .

Day14: Descend and transfer to Tehran

Day15:Tehran sightseeing.

Damavand , Alamkooh , Sabalan trekking tour detailed itinerary

 

Day1: Arrival Iran via ,Tabriz International airport , sightseeing Tabriz

Arriving Tabriz in the early morning(Arrival via Istanbul to Iran , scheduled flight with Turkish airlines from most of the counties to Istanbul to Tabriz) , Transfer to Hotel , city tour , sightseeing Bazar , Tabriz is the capital of Iranian province of Azarbaijan . Worth seeing is the Blue Mosque and Municipality palace museum and clock tower . in the afternoon , visit of the cave dwellings of Kandovan .  Sabalan trekking tour

Day2: Driving from Tabriz to Shabil(2800m) on the foot of mount Sabalan.

In the morning we drive  to Shabil  village at the foot of Mt. Sabalan , that known for its hot springs , in the field of Shahsavan groups. In the afternoon we take a walk in the surrounding mountains for better acclimatization .

  • Transfer: 230km – about 3.5 hours
  • Trekking ↑↓ approx. : 300m ,  1 to 2 hours.

Day3: Climb to Bargah Hoseeiniy hut (3600m)

Today early in the morning we start climbing to Bargah Hoseeiniy hut ( northeast side of Mt. Sabalan) .our luggage will carry by a 4WD car to the hut , so we have to carry only a light backpack. This is important for a good and comfortable acclimatization. It takes about 3-4 hours to reach the hut.

Day4: Acclimatization

We will climb up-to 4000 meters and having about one hour rest in that altitude  then return to camp

Day5: Climbing mount Sabalan (4811m) Sabalan trekking tour

Before sunrise we begin to Sabalan trekking tour , the Sacred mountain of Zoroastrians . According to the legend Zoroaster has several years of meditating on the mountain. On the technically easy ascent rout we reach the summit with its picturesque crater lake. After a long break at the summit , we descend to our camp , eating soup and going down to Shabil with 4WD cars . for recreation , depends on our time , we can take a dip in one of the hot springs transfer to at hotel in Meshkinshahr town.

Day6: Driving to Masouleh village and Caspian coast

After breakfast we drive to Masuleh , a more than one thousand years old mountainous village near the Caspian Sea . Even  the great Iranian poet Sohrab Sepehri wrote rightly “ we come here to write , but cannot be written Masouleh , Masouleh should be seen” the unique architecture is also known as “ the yard of building is the roof of building below . it is the only place in Iran where there is not any motorized transport . because it is simply not possible.

Day7: Driving in Caspian coast toward Roudbarak village at the foot of mount Alamkuh (4850m)

We leave Masouleh towards Caspian sea and ride the coast to Chalous port . lunch on the Caspian seaside . from there it goes into the mountains to Roudbarak village where we stay in Iranian mountain federation Lodge .

Day8: Trekking to Hesarchal (3770m)

We drive  by 4WD cars to Tange Galoo(3300m) on a dirt road . from there we start walking along the river on a narrow valley toward Hesarchal , a wide area surrounded by 4000 peaks , we set our camp there in 3750m and after lunch it we do a short acclimatization up-to about 4000 meters. Overnight in tent .

  • Trekking ↑ approx. : 470m ,  2 hours.
  • Accommodation: El. : 3770m , Tent
Day9: Acclimatization on some above 4000 meters peaks.

We start our acclimatization by ascending Mt. Lashgarak(4260m) then we continue on the chain of Alamkuh toward Gardonkuh (4400m) and if we have time and group be enough ready we can climd another summit , Menareh(4350m) then we return to camp and rest to be ready for next day , ascending Alamkuh summit.

Day10: Ascending mount Alamkuh(4850m).

We start early in the morning our hiking to ascend Mt. Alamkuh , Alamkuh is the highest peak of Takht-e-Soleyman massif , after about 5 hours hiking on an technically easy route we reach to summit , where we have a good view of dozen of above 4000meters peak and also in clear sky , Mt. Damavand and Caspian sea are visible. After extensive rest at the summit and taking photos , we descend to Hesarchal , then we walk back down to our vehicles that bring us to Vandarbon.

  • Trekking ↓ approx. : 1550m , 4 hours.

Day11: Driving along Caspian coast toward Reyneh village (2300m) at the foot of Mt. Damavand.

From Vandarbon we drive along Caspian sea coast and we stop for swimming and visit of Caspian sea then we drive to Reyneh village.

Day12: Ascent to Damavand hut , Bargah3(4260m) .

After breakfast and packing our baggage we transport by 4WD cars to Gosfandsara(3000m) on a dirt road  where the mules are ready to carry our baggage to the hut and we start walking from there. We walk on a technically easy route with light back pack about 5 hours to reach the Hut. After lunch we have time to walk up-to 4500m for acclimatization .

  • Trekking ↑ approx. : 1260m , 5 hours.
  • Accommodation: El. : 2300m , Lodge
Day13: Ascent to Mt. Damavand (5671m) .

Before sunrise we start our ascent to summit , over a wide ridge , it goes steadily over rough bouldersup . if the first fumaroles come within sight , it is not far to the summit. After about 6 hours we will reach to the highest point of Iran plateau , Mt. Damavend(5671m) , in good weather it is a good idea to walk around  the crater in half hour and  then we start to descend to hut .

Day14: Descend and transfer to Tehran

After breakfast we’ll descend to Goosfandsara and from there with 4WD cars transfer to Polur and then transfer to Tehran .

Day15: Tehran sightseeing.

Whole day Visit of Tehran cultural attraction : Old Bazar , Golestan palace , national museum , Sa’dabad palace , Azadi tower

In the evening  transfer  to Imam Khomeini international airport to flight back
