After a few hours of climbing and from an altitude of 5400 meters, you will feel the first sulfur fumes and it becomes clear that you are moving along a volcano. Although Damavand is no longer an active volcano, you can still feel the effects of volcanic activity. After about 5 to 6 hours of climbing, you will finally stand on the highest point of Damavand volcano and enjoy a magnificent panoramic view.
On a clear day you can even see Tehran or the Caspian Sea. We also see the 4,850-meter peak of Alamkooh, which looms on the horizon. Those who still have energy reserves can, after consulting with the mountain guide, walk around the crater (walking time approximately 45 minutes).
