Package Overview
The Sardagh Ridge serves as a crucial connection between Damavand Peak and the Alborz Mountain Range, located on the northwest side of the mountain. This ridge is one of the most scenic and less-explored climbing routes for those seeking a unique Climbing Damavand experience.
The northwest route is an excellent choice for mountaineers looking to explore remote and less crowded trails.
Why Choose the Northwest Route for Climbing Damavand?
- Shortest Route to the Summit: The northwest and west routes offer the shortest ascent to Mount Damavand.
- High Starting Altitude: Access to the trailhead at 3,600 meters is possible with a two-wheel-drive vehicle.
- Highest Starting Point Among Damavand Routes: Sardagh Ridge provides the highest starting elevation for an ascent.
- Breathtaking Scenery: This route passes near significant glaciers like Siuoleh and Dobisel, offering spectacular landscapes.

The journey starts from Pas Qala, a historic village, and follows the Darband River, passing beautiful riverside cafes. You’ll then enter Osun Valley, making your way to Shirpala Hut (2,700m), a well-equipped mountain refuge with private rooms, beds, a restaurant, and restrooms.

At 5,300m, you’ll notice sulfur vapors, a reminder that Damavand is a dormant volcano. The panoramic summit views stretch across Tehran, the Caspian Sea, and even the Alamkouh Peak (4,850m).
