Damavand ski tour is the most popular ski tour in Iran for ski mountaineering lovers. At first we ski in the beautiful 4000-meter peaks of Doberar, while a beautiful view of Damavand peak is in front of our eyes, and after equalization in these peaks, we climb Damavand.

Mount Damavand (5671 m) , the highest point in Iran, a volcano overlooking the mighty Alborz mountain range. An almost perfect cone, covered with snow from December to May, an active volcano (fumaroles, sulfur). Highly popular in the summer by Iranian mountaineers, since mountain skiing is not well developed in Iran this summit is rarely visited in the spring

Doberar and Damavand ski tour detailed itinerary

Day1 : Tehran – Lasem (2500m)

Arrive in Tehran early in the morning. Reception by our guide at the airport and drive directly to Lasem, a small village at the foot of Doberar mountain range. The rest of the day is available for relaxation and preparation for the upcoming ski tours in the coming days. Overnight stay with a host family (local house) in cozy shared rooms and the opportunity to take a shower.

Transfer: 3 hours (90km)

Accommodation: El. 2500m : Local house

Day2 ,3 ,4 : ski touring in the Doberar mountain range

From Lasem you have three different ski tours to choose from over the next 3 days. You can start your walking up from Lasem village. The day tours usually lead relatively steeply uphill and follow the deeply incised valleys.

You then reach the respective peaks via the mountain flanks (Mt. Changiz Chal 4,000 m, Mt. Eingemar 4,050 m, Mt. Doberar 4,080 m). From the peaks you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the Damavand volcano opposite.

After a long rest, the reward comes: the ski descent and a delicious “Chelo Kabãb” in our regular restaurant (Mountain Bar) on the main street in Polour. Overnight stay as on the previous days with a host family (local house).

Skiing up and down ↑↓ approx. :1500m , 8 hours

Accommodation: El.

Day5 : Lasem- Damavand camp1 – Bargah Sevom hut(4260m)

After breakfast you leave Lasem and drive via Polur to the  Mount Damavand camp1 (Saheb-al-Sahman Mosque) (3,000 m), the starting point of the ascent. Ascent to the new Bargah Sewom hut at 4,200 m .

You are now already at the top of all the surrounding mountains.

Transfer: 1.5 hour (40km)

Skiing up↑ approx. : 1260 m , 5 hours

Accommodation: El. 1260m : Hut

Day6 : Acclimatization up to 4800m

Explore the area around the mountain hut and use the time to get used to the altitude. For better adjustment, we recommend an ascent up to approx. 4,700-4,900 meters in altitude. Then downhill skiing in one of the many gullies to the mountain hut. Overnight mountain hut

Skiing up and down ↑↓ approx. : 540m , 4 hours

Accommodation: El. 1260m : Hut

Day7 : Damavand summit (5671m) – Bargah Sevom

You start to the summit while it is still dark. The higher you go, the thinner the air gets. With a bit of luck with the weather, you can see the glowing sea of lights of Tehran on the left-hand side. After about 5-8 hours it’s done.

You are standing on the crater rim of the 5,671m high extinct volcano. From here you have an unlimited view to the north to the Caspian Sea, to the west to Alamkouh (4,850 m), the second highest mountain in Iran and to the southwest with the metropolis of Tehran. You can pat yourself on the back with pride because you have climbed the highest mountain in the Orient.

If you want and still have energy reserves, you can also circle the crater/caldera (approx. 40 min). Along with Kilimanjaro and Denali, Damavand is one of the highest free-standing mountains in the world. After an extensive summit rest and photo parade, starts the racy ski descent (approx. 1,500 HM) down to the mountain hut. If possible, continue down into the valley in the afternoon (to the Saheb-al-Sahman Mosque at approx. 3,020 m).

From here you will be transferred to the host family in the small mountain village of Reyneh. Overnight stay in a mountain hut or with a host family in Reyneh (shared room)
