Skiing in Iran began in the 1930s was initially the only rich people of this sport. But now this sport has expanded in Iran and there are many ski tracks throughout Iran. There are around 19 ski resorts across the country, and the potential for ski touring is virtually limitless!

Dizin Ski resort:

most of the people who do skiing in Iran know Dizin ski resort . Dizin is  situated to the north of Tehran in Alborz mountain range at Gajereh region, and is just 71 km. (43 miles) north of Tehran, Iran.
The resort is accessible from Tehran by 2 roads, one is the upper road via Shemshak (71 Km. – This road is sometimes closed due to heavy snow) and the other one, the lower road via Karaj (120 km.).
The highest ski lift reaches 3,600 m (11,800 ft), making it one of the 40 highest ski resorts in the world.
The ski season in Dizin lasts longer than European ski resorts (from December to May) because of its high altitude.
The air is also drier than at a lot of European resorts, making for some excellent powder. The high number of sunny days makes it an excellent place for ski holidays.

History: Dizin Ski Resort was founded by a group of foreigners who were searching for mines in the central Albourz Mountains. The area was announced suitable for skiing and in 1965, by installing a portable surface lift over Dizin pass, the area provided the opportunity for the national ski team to practice.

Darbandsar Ski resort:

Darbandsar ski resort is one of the private slopes in Iran . it is located in Darbandsar Village, 60 kilometers north east of Tehran in the middle of Alborz Mountain Range near Mount Damavand.
This small resort is on the slopes of Mount Seechal and is one of the 7 major ski resorts near the capital. After Shemshak, it is the second most challenging resort in the region.

Shemshak Ski resort:

Shemshak is a ski resort which is located in the north-east of Tehran in the Alborz mountain range. Shemshak is considered as next in rank to Dizin ski complex and has started its activity since 1958. It includes two ski lifts, three dish teleskis and two hammer teleskis. The slopes lie at an altitude of 2550m to 3050m above the sea level. The resort includes two main slopes, each with a chair lift that apex at the top and several lifts. There are also lighting facilities for night skiing. Best Skiing Season is December to April and There are two hotels in Shemshak ski resort, one of which is older. Both hotels are cheaper than the ones in Dizin.

How to get to Shemshak? : 60 to 90 min (about 60 km) drive to Shemshak from Tehran by coach. After a heavy snowfall, snow chains are often necessary for the last part of the journey. There is no railway station in Shemshak, the closest railway station is at Tehran

Tochal Ski Resort

Mount Tochal is a mountain in the Alborz range, adjacent to metropolitan Tehran. The mountain has a 12 km long ridge-line. The highest peak is Mount Tochal with an elevation of 3,964 m (13,005 feet). A gondola lift runs from Tehran to Tochal Ski Resort and a modern hotel.

The resort has two-chair lifts and one T-bar. There are seven stations on the telecabin route; Tochal ski resort is located at the seventh station. There are the restaurants at fifth and the seventh stations, and a nice hotel called Tochal Hotel at the base of the resort 3550m, with 30 rooms and suites. Depending on the climate and the amount of snowfall, the ski season usually starts in November and lasts until April or even June.

Tochal Hotel: This hotel is located at the altitude of 3550m and serves the skiers for 7 to 8 months per year while the slopes are covered with the snow. It has 30 rooms:The ski resort is located at Mt Tochal 7th Station.

The ski resort base is located at 3550m. / The top of the resort is at 3850m high. / The slope length is about 1200 meters. / The vertical drop is 300m. / This resort is the 5th highest ski resort in the world (3850m).
